My own thoughts on a debate that was going on among reformed bloggers on this issue (with links to the debate):

and my thoughts as an ex-pentecostal:

Any chance of getting Prof Simon Chan of Trinity Theological College to respond? He is AOG yet has a PhD from Cambridge!

Jedibaba, thats a good idea. There is another great guy I know in Singapore, he has been (for a brief time) a great mentor to me, his name is Ong Boon Cheang. He is both a scholar and a pentecostal, so he would be a great guy to talk to.

That's a good suggestion, but we dont have contacts with Simon Chan here.

I read Leon's ex-pentecostal blog and i find it interesting ;)
Hmm..and i wanna say i appreciate your statement on the difference being pentecostal and charismatic, because people seems to lump them together. There are differences among pestecostals, charismatics, and the third wave. I wrote a paper on that in my blog specifically on Baptism in the Holy Spirit- second blessing or a one-time experienced? I think a thorough bible study on this is needed, exceeding what my paper could provide, but i think i have stayed faithful to my tradition (and experience as a charismatic, having carefully consider what it means to call myself that), and have sought to articulate it.

Being a charismatic, i have met people who would only think of me a tongue-speaker (or babbler) pentecostal. More or less like linking a brethren with veiling of women. There are much more towards what we actually do..and believe. Yeah, i think hearing Simon Chan/Bro Ong and even coming to CBC will help you to see our experience is not just misdirected religious affections.
